যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেন বলেছেন, করোনাভাইরাসের টিকা দেয়া হলে আগামী ৪ঠা জুলাই আমেরিকার মানুষ ছোট আকারে মিলিত হবার সুযোগ তৈরি হওয়ার একটি 'ভালো সম্ভাবনা' আছে।
প্রেসিডেন্ট হিসেবে নিজের প্রথম প্রাইমটাইম ভাষণে তিনি এমন মন্তব্য করেন। তবে তিনি এমন দিনে ভাষণ দিলেন এক বছর আগে এই দিনেই কোভিড-১৯-কে মহামারি হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছিল।
মিস্টার বাইডেন সব রাজ্যকেই আগামী পহেলা মে'র মধ্যে তাদের প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক সক্ষম সব নাগরিককে টিকা দেয়ার ব্যবস্থা নেয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন।
"আমরা যদি ৪ঠা জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে এটা একসাথে করতে পারি, তাহলে আপনার নিজের, পরিবারের ও বন্ধুদের স্বাধীনতা দিবস উদযাপনে মিলিত হওয়ার ভালো সুযোগ আছে," মিস্টার বাইডেন বলছিলেন।
তিনি বলেন, তার দেশ শুধু স্বাধীনতা দিবস উদযাপনেই নয় বরং 'করোনা ভাইরাস থেকেই স্বাধীনতা অর্জনের' জন্য সক্ষম হবে।

US President Joe Biden has said that there is a "good chance" that the coronavirus vaccine will create an opportunity for the American people to meet on a smaller scale on July 4.
He made the remarks in his first primetime speech as president. However, he spoke on a day a year before the Covid-19 was identified as an epidemic.
Mr. Biden has instructed all states to take action to vaccinate all their able-bodied adults by May 1.
"If we can do it together by the 4th of July, you, your family, and friends have a good chance to come together to celebrate Independence Day," Mr. Biden said.
He said his country would be able to not only celebrate Independence Day but also "gain independence from the coronavirus".
